Salary/Rate: £45,000 – £48,000
Work Hours: 40 hours per week (require flexibility)

To manage the Care Home as the CQC Registered Manager for Howe Dell Manor and Coach House on behalf of Nouvita Ltd.

To provide mental health support for residents who are in the process of returning to the community or who are suffering from some form of enduring mental illness, often following long periods of hospital care and have been referred through mental health teams or services.

To lead on the recruitment, on-boarding, induction, training and support of all staff to offer a programme of care to vulnerable adults who are residents in the Care Home with a history of severe and occasionally enduring mental health needs.

To actively promote & market the company’s services to other health professionals, clinicians, commissioners and others.

  • Qualified Nurse (RMN, RNLD or RGN)
  • Relevant experience of running a care home with enduring mental health residents
  • Experience of marketing the service and maintaining sound relationship with funders and families
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to: coach, guide, supervise, teach and role model for staff
  • Good level of IT skills – Outlook (email and calendar), word, excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; active listening, negotiation, assertiveness, negotiation, decision making, social awareness
  • Highly motivated
  • Able to adapt and work flexibly to meet expected deadlines as required
Duties & responsibilities:
  • To be responsible for the day to day Management of the Care Home and any future development within the service
  • To play a key role in actively networking, promoting & selling the service
  • To plan and manage Nouvita’s care objectives to the highest possible level of delivery
  • To achieve objectives within given resources & to actively pursue such resources which are necessary for the successful operation of the Care Home
  • To ensure that appropriate therapeutic activities are being undertaken by the staff in line with an approved programme which is appropriate to the delivery of services
  • To support & implement changes in methods and approaches to work as may be required by the business & in line with best practice guidelines
  • To maintain an up to date working knowledge of legislation, statutory frameworks and codes of practice relevant to the area of work. This knowledge is to be applied to ensure that service delivery is carried out in accordance with required practice guidance
  • To develop cooperative working relationships with other managers in order that projects or general work matters which impact on more than one service can be carried out efficiently and without delay to the benefit of service users
  • To inform directors/nominator individual of all relevant factors relating to the work of the service
  • To communicate effectively with staff in the service. Communication includes, but must not be restricted to staff meetings, supervision & appraisals
  • To manage Care Home expenditure and the allocation of resources within agreed budget limits. If there are likely to be significant over spends or under spends, the manager must inform the Finance Officer immediately
  • To establish and maintain an ethos of resident service and employee performance within the Care Home, ensuring that appropriate work plans, appraisal, supervision and staff development systems are in place to achieve Nouvita objectives
  • To establish and maintain relevant information and record systems in order to provide objective data that will help to establish priorities, make appropriate decisions and determine whether progress is being made in required areas of the service
  • To manage the team in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity and collaborative working within the staff team; ensuring that staff are aware of the requirement to deliver non-discriminatory services and to promote greater equality for disadvantaged groups
  • To apply individual and team performance reviews and to practically apply the results within the area of responsibility to achieve targets
  • To ensure that all staff are appraised in accordance with the established procedures and that training plans and staff professional development is properly managed and recorded
  • To manage proactively all employee management related matters including sickness absence, unsatisfactory performance, conduct, discipline and grievances ensuring that these are managed according to both Company and professional frameworks
  • To adhere to all of Nouvita’s Policies & Procedures
  • To apply Nouvita’s standards for Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology

  • To contribute towards developing local policies and procedures for the relevant areas and to actively participate in policy formation and review
  • To ensure that all necessary administration work is compiled and completed as necessary
  • To project the attitudes and behaviour expected of a Nouvita Care Home manager at all times, promoting the service within the community as well as demonstrating the professional and personal standards of conduct that could be reasonably required of a professional manager
  • To demonstrate commitment to the Company’s core values of excellent service delivery, quality, equality and empowerment
  • To follow a clear programme of marketing and selling the service to include active engagement in making contact with and creating and maintaining professional relationships with potential referrers
  • To work at such times and for such periods as are necessary for the efficient discharge of your duties as required by the employer
  • To be the Information Governance Lead for the care home, taking overall responsibility for managing information to meet statutory requirements and company policies
Team Management Responsibilities:
  • To manage the staff team at Howe Dell Manor and Coach House
  • To ensure team members receive effective and appropriate support, supervision, appraisal and guidance in accordance with Nouvita local and corporate policy & procedure
  • To recruit and develop the team to ensure the efficient delivery of the service
  • To ensure quality services are delivered to service users referred by mental Health Teams within the Care Programme Approach Framework
  • To be responsible for delivering and developing services that support independent living, that are relevant and sensitive to the needs of an ethnically and culturally diverse population and that promote recovery, positive mental health and social inclusion
  • To ensure effective liaison with statutory and volunteer sector agencies, including CQC, PCT and Home Office’s etc
  • To provide operational and financial management of the services at the local level
  • Complete Registration with the CQC within first 6 weeks of commencing employment with the company
