About The Role

Are you a compassionate leader with a passion for providing exceptional care? Join our highly skilled, talented team as a Deputy Manager!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Deputy Manager to join our spacious 10-bed adult male residential home situated in a quiet residential area of Stevenage, Hertfordshire. You will play a vital role in supporting the Home Manager, ensuring that our residents receive the highest standards of care in a safe, nurturing environment. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with experience within a mental health setting to take the next step in their career. 

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

1. Leadership and Management:

  • Assist the Home Manager in the day-to-day management of the home.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the care team to ensure high-quality care is delivered to all residents.
  • Conduct staff appraisals, supervisions, and team meetings to maintain a motivated and well-informed workforce.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, and training of new staff members.
  • Ensure staff adherence to policies and procedures, safeguarding residents' well-being.

2. Care Planning and Implementation:

  • Ensure that individual care plans are in place for each resident, regularly updated, and followed by the care team.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that residents’ mental health and physical health needs are fully met.
  • Promote person-centered care and active involvement of residents in decisions related to their care and daily living.

3. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards, including CQC guidelines, health and safety regulations, and data protection laws.
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including medication administration, care plans, and incident reports.

4. Resident Wellbeing and Safeguarding:

  • Act as a safeguarding lead, promoting a safe environment where residents are protected from harm and abuse.
  • Promote mental health recovery, rehabilitation, and positive well-being through tailored support.
  • Address and resolve any resident or family concerns or complaints in a compassionate and professional manner.

5. Operational Support:

  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including managing staff rotas, budgets, and supplies.
  • Step into the Home Manager's role in their absence, ensuring smooth operation of the care home.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
    • Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a mental health care setting.
    • In-depth knowledge of mental health conditions and best practices in care management.
    • Strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Experience in creating and reviewing care plans for individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Desirable:
    • Registered Manager’s Award (or working towards).
    • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
    • Previous experience in a leadership role within a CQC-regulated setting.
     
     
    This role has a hybrid of regular shifts, admin shifts and on-call duties.

The team at Winnett Cottage provides outstanding 24-hour support to individuals with enduring mental health conditions who may have additional forensic histories or substance or alcohol abuse difficulties. 
 
Nouvita Offer a full range of mental health support for 150 patients and residents, in ten different locations in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire.
