Eltisley Manor

Cambridge Road, Eynesbury Hardwicke, St Neots, PE19 6SR

Eltisley Manor is an imposing thirty-nine-bed nursing home close to St Neots in Cambridgeshire. This specialist mental health nursing home comprises three services: The Limes, The Orchard, and The Coach House, all located on the same site.

We pride ourselves in offering expert mental health nursing care for individuals whose enduring mental health needs mean they are often excluded from mainstream nursing home settings or for individuals who require more support than a residential home can provide.

CQC rating: Good
PAMMS rating: Good

Our service

The quality of life of residents at Eltisley Manor is at the core of everything we do. Our team is dedicated to providing holistic support personalised to the needs of the individual.

"My daughter and we have no issues, but to say that she is very comfortable, and all the staff are very caring and attentive. I thank and appreciate the team for all the care they offer."

Residents supported

Eltisley Manor excels in providing care for older adults with mental and co-morbid physical health conditions.

Some individuals’ histories may reflect significant alcohol and/or substance misuse as well as repeated or prolonged periods of in-patient admission. These residents’ disorders may be treatment-resistant, leaving the person with significant neurocognitive and motivational deficits and progressive social withdrawal and deterioration.

Residents may be on a CTO (Community Treatment Order), under MAPPA (Ministry of Justice), or require DOLs (Deprivation of Liberty) while at Eltisley.

Care and support

Alongside mental health care, our extensive Clinical team comprising RMN and RGN (mental health and general health) nurses, care home assistant practitioners (CHAPS), activity assistants, and support workers can provide nursing care for those with age-related physical health needs.

Our in-house team is supplemented by close links with community health teams, providing access to speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, psychiatric consultants, and dieticians. The community GP, practice nurse, and pharmacist accompany our own nurses on weekly ward rounds.

While many of our residents are long-term, some are on a rehabilitation pathway and are encouraged and supported to develop skills to achieve greater independence.

We strive to provide all our residents with understanding, support, motivation, and psychological care to improve their outcomes.

Activities

Our on-site activity coordinators work with residents, encouraging participation in a wealth of in-house and community-based activities. Focusing on training, education, life skills, and healthy living, we build confidence through group and individual pursuits, leading to greater success when residents return to independent living.

Therapeutic activities, such as mindfulness and hair and beauty treatments in our on-site salon, are included in our activities calendar. Nouvita’s own personal trainer runs sessions once a week to promote greater mobility and fitness.

The more able residents make regular trips to the shops and cafes in the town centre to develop skills such as travel planning, budgeting, and communication. There is an on-site tuck shop managed by an Eltisley resident selling toiletries and snacks and a coffee shop run by the activity coordinators for those less able to access the community.

Services at Eltisley

The Limes

At The Limes, we provide 24-hour specialist nursing care for seventeen female and male residents with a primary diagnosis of a mental health condition aged 50 plus whose advancing years may exclude them from many psychiatric services. Many residents will present with comorbid physical health needs but for whom their enduring mental illness excludes them from a ‘regular’ or mainstream nursing home setting.

The Orchard

At The Orchard, we provide 24-hour person-centred nursing care for eighteen male and female residents aged 18 plus with complex mental health presentations. The nursing team is experienced in supporting residents to stabilise their mental health and notice signs of relapse or crisis.

Residents of The Orchard typically transition from inpatient settings, step up from residential services, or are on a pathway to achieving greater independence in residential care or a supported living placement.

The Coach House

The pathway continues to our Coach House, a smaller four-bedded service for individuals progressing well on their journey to independence. This facility provides a stepping stone to the community for residents to practise their daily living skills and prepare to move into more independent living.

While nursing staff are not based within the Coach House, they are still on hand at The Limes on the same site.

"I would like to comment on the quality of Mr C's care plans, I found them to be person-centred and very well written. I was able to gain a sound insight into his care needs and how you and your team are meeting them."

St Neots

Eltisley Manor is just three miles from St Neots, which lies on the picturesque banks of the River Great Ouse. The town’s square hosts regular markets, and St Neots boasts a bowling alley, cinema complex, and museum. The town centre offers a mix of national and independent retailers, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Just a short walk from the town centre, there are many green spaces to explore, including the seventy-two-acre Riverside Park, offering beautiful scenery to enjoy at leisure.

Staff & Training

The team at Eltisley Manor has specialist skills to support individuals with mental health conditions, challenging behaviour, substance misuse, and age-related physical health conditions.

Staff are provided advanced training on an as-needed basis to meet the specific needs of the residents they are supporting.

"Miss L was cared for well whilst at Eltisley Manor with notable improvement in her physical wellbeing and her grooming. Your team took interest in her as a person, and I do feel her quality of life improved."
