Practice Nurse - Fixed Term Contract

Due to internal promotion we have an opportunity for an RGN to join our hospital Baldock Manor, on a fixed term contract basis. The role of the Practice Nurse is to work as an effective member of the Multi-Disciplinary team, promote the best interests of the patients and carers and ensure that prescribed nursing care is effectively implemented. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe care environment, exercise professional accountability and utilise your professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments within the scope of professional practice.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:

• Carrying out physical examinations and investigatory procedures (triage)
• Chronic health conditions management;
• Venepuncture
• Requesting pathology tests
• ECGs
• New patient medicals/urinalysis
• Assist and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing   staff;
• Ear Syringing
• Removal of sutures and wound management

• Knowledge of management of patients with long-term conditions

• Practice of medical emergency scenarios

• Clinical skills – immunisation and vaccination, diabetes, epilepsy, stoma care wound care

• Minimum 3 years post registration experience
• Up to date NMC registration

Baldock Manor Hospital is a thriving service.

Over recent years Baldock Manor has undertaken extensive development work to become the hospital it is today. We have three wards; an 8 bedded female PICU service, an older working age men’s 14 bed acute/High dependency unit typically for gentlemen over the age of 45/50 and a similar 10 bedded service for older working age/older age ladies. We are currently opening a fourth 8 bedded PICU service. 

Our focus is recovery for our patients with quality care and measurable outcomes at the centre of all we do. Baldock Manor boasts a full MDT with Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and Occupational Therapy practitioners on site as well as a very able team of Senior support workers, support works, Therapies assistants and more.

Being a smaller hospital gives us the opportunity to coach and mentor our team as well as giving real ability for individuals to take a role in service design and bring their innovative ideas to the fore.
