Essential skills
At least 2 years experience of support work, preferably working with people with mental health illnesses or learning disabilities along with:
- IT Skills
- An understanding of how mental health issues can affect people
- An ability to take direction and to follow detailed policies and protocols
- Good communication skills: tact, diplomacy and active listening
- Good organisational skills and time management
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Experience of working as part of a team
Responsibilities
- Participation in the application of care plans while ensuring interventions and observations are communicated effectively with senior members of the team.
- Assisting in the supervision of other healthcare/support staff.
- Maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, beneficial to the needs of residents, relatives and other carers.
- Promoting a positive attitude toward mental health & rehabilitation.
Aside to your hands-on responsibilities, there is also a small amount of administration that you will soon be familiar with, these include:
- Record keeping.
- Booking your holidays.
- Edit/create care-plans.
- Publish/view your hours.
