About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our Supported Living Service for males. About the Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be at the forefront of supporting individuals with mental health conditions on their journey to recovery and empowerment. Your role will involve providing practical and emotional support, promoting independence, and ensuring the well-being of our service users in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. You will work in a person-centred framework, creating tailored care plans that reflect the needs and preferences of each individual.

What You’ll Do:

  • Day-to-Day Support: Assist with daily tasks like personal care, cooking, budgeting, and housekeeping.
  • Administrative Help: Provide support with benefits payments and correspondence.
  • Emotional Support: Offer compassionate, non-judgmental care, helping service users manage their emotions.
  • Recovery Plans: Collaborate with healthcare professionals and families to create personalized care and recovery plans.
  • Promote Independence: Empower individuals to make their own choices and achieve personal goals.
  • Risk Management: Monitor mental health, respond to crises, and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Medication Support: Assist with administering medication as per guidelines.
  • Engage in Activities: Help individuals participate in social, recreational, and community activities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of care provided.
  • Collaborative Care: Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure holistic support.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Empathy & Compassion: A deep understanding of mental health challenges and a kind, patient approach.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for engaging with service users and professionals.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and external partners.
  • Flexibility: Openness to working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in mental health or social care (preferred, but not essential).
  • At least one year’s experience in a support worker role.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and recovery-oriented care.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
  • Basic IT skills for record-keeping.

About Us

No 7 and No 8 Windsor House are supported living services in a pleasant residential area of Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The houses are adjacent, with one accommodating four residents and the other three.

The Windsor Houses provide individuals an excellent opportunity to step down from higher dependency services, allowing them to gain the skills they need for independent living in a safe and homely environment.
