Baldock Manor Hospital
Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Acute Wards
Baldock Manor is a 40-bed hospital in north Hertfordshire that provides specialist psychiatric services for adults. The hospital has two female PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care) wards and two acute wards.
Baldock Manor’s PICU wards provide care and support for women at crisis level with a severe mental disorder who require rapid assessment and stabilisation.
Baldock Manor’s acute wards care for older adults (male and female), usually 50 years or older, who need a short-term hospital stay, where we can stabilise their mental health. The average stay in our acute wards is less than forty days.
As well as working with local commissioning teams, Baldock Manor regularly works with out-of-area placement teams. In the past twelve months, referrals have come from over twenty different NHS trusts and local authorities across England. We collaborate with out-of-area ICBs and care coordinators to ensure involvement in care & smooth transition back to area.
