Our residents are supported to gain confidence and enjoy a high quality of life through the pursuit of hobbies, the development of independent living skills and regular access to community services. The Leys has a calming feel which benefits the behaviours of many service users.
The building is spacious with a homely feel and plenty of space to socialise and relax. Being on site of our day centre hobby farm (Saddlers Farm), residents easy and regular access to the farm and open space, engaging with many activities and hobbies such as animal welfare and horticulture.
Person-centred, therapeutic care that inspires growth
Good residential care goes far beyond looking after physical needs. It’s about supporting emotional wellbeing, developing skills and helping people realise their potential.
- Person-led support plans – Co-created with the resident and their family/carers
- Life skills development – For greater independence and confidence
- Social, educational & leisure activities – Tailored to individual interests
- Behaviour support strategies – Positive, respectful and effective
- Collaborative input – Working with external professionals where needed
This holistic approach helps people feel empowered, build meaningful routines, and enjoy purposeful lives in a safe and nurturing environment.
Community engagement and activities
Residents at The Leys are supported and encouraged to engage meaningfully in local activities, social groups, and hobbies that enrich their lives and foster real community inclusion.
From a trip to the shops or helping on the farm, it’s often the small things that make a difference, with day trips to other places also a common feature; from museums to the seaside, fishing and much more.
Access to our other day centres are also available to residents during weekdays, which are equally highly social, fun and engaging. Evenings and weekends are free for residents to explore and pursue individual interests, with flexibility ensuring the right time balance.

Staff & Training
The Leys has experienced staff with specialist skills to support individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions, most of whom have worked with us for years – if not decades.
All our staff receive regular supervision and training to ensure the right level of care is provided to everyone and are aligned with changing needs and current best practices.
Beyond the induction and foundation training, staff are provided advanced training to meet the specific needs of the residents they support. We also have champions in areas such as safeguarding and falls and frailty.
