What we’re looking for:
We are seeking an experienced and confident Employee Relations Specialist to join our HR team. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, handling complex employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion and fairness.
You will work autonomously and be responsible for managing a varied ER caseload, supporting our services with expert guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on a wide range of employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, and conduct.
- Manage and lead on complex ER casework, ensuring compliance with employment law, company policies, and best practice.
- Coach and support line managers in handling people issues confidently and effectively.
- Identify and analyse trends in employment relations activity and make recommendations for proactive interventions.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of employment legislation and ensure the organisation is compliant.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Contribute to policy development and employee engagement initiatives.
- Support change management projects, restructure and organisational development initiatives.
- Report in to Clinical Governance on a monthly basis and support Head of HR with quarterly Board of Directors reporting.
Skills Required:
- At least 5 years’ experience in an employee relations or HR advisory role.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (as a minimum).
- Up-to-date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified.
- Experience working with unions in a formal setting.
- Skilled in coaching, influencing, and supporting senior stakeholders.
- Background in healthcare or mental health is a bonus, but not essential.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

- Collaborates effectively with colleagues; brings a positive, supportive attitude, actively listens, encourages input, and values the perspectives of others.
