Deputy Service Lead – NHS Talking Therapies (PCE-CfD)
Location: Hertfordshire
Hours: 30 hours (4 days) or 37.5 hours (5 days)
Start Date: October 2025 (New Service Launch)
Salary: £50,000 + benefits (pro rata for part time hours)
We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a qualified and dedicated PCE-CfD therapist to step into a Deputy Service Lead role within a new NHS Talking Therapies service, which launched in October 2025.
As Deputy Service Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in establishing, shaping, and embedding a compassionate, effective, and innovative service that supports adults experiencing common mental health difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining clinical work with leadership and who is motivated by making a genuine impact at both individual and service level.

What You’ll Do:

Support the Service Lead in the strategic, clinical, and operational delivery of the NHS Talking Therapies service

Contribute to service setup, pathway development, and quality assurance processes

Provide clinical supervision and line management to a team of PCE-CfD and other modality-trained therapists

Maintain a small clinical caseload, delivering high-quality, evidence-based therapy in line with NHS Talking Therapies models

Support staff performance, development, and wellbeing, fostering a positive and reflective team culture

Work collaboratively with local partners, commissioners, and stakeholders to ensure accessibility, equity, and seamless service integration

Promote continuous improvement through audit, outcome monitoring, and service evaluation
About You:
We’re looking for a confident, dedicated and motivated professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and contribute to service leadership while remaining clinically grounded.
You will have:

A PCE-CfD qualification (Postgraduate training in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression)

Accreditation with BACP or another relevant professional body

Experience working within NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) or a similar mental health service is preferred

Experience in leadership, supervision, or mentoring roles (or a strong desire to develop these skills)

A commitment to evidence-based practice, service quality, and staff development

Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
