About The Role

Join our vibrant team as a Senior House Officer (SHO) specializing in the fascinating realm of psychiatry. We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic junior doctor with a burning passion for psychiatry to weave their expertise into the fabric of our team.

As a crucial member of our unit, you'll embark on a journey of assessing, diagnosing, and nurturing patients within our Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and Older Age Acute units. Guided by the wisdom of our esteemed Consultant Psychiatrists, you'll embrace a myriad of responsibilities. From delving into patient histories to conducting thorough physical and mental health examinations, crafting treatment plans to providing invaluable psycho-education, and even delving into the intricate world of medication management, tribunal proceedings, and crafting comprehensive CPA reports – your days will be brimming with purpose and challenge.

Required qualifications:          
  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK.
  • Completion of the Foundation Year 1 (F1) and Foundation Year 2 (F2) training or equivalent.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. 
  •  Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and a dedication to delivering patient-centred care.

Baldock Manor is a 45-bed mental health facility for adults in various settings (two Female PICUs, Rehab and Elderly High Dependency Unit), with an increased focus on psychology led treatments.
